As I was scrolling through facebook I came upon a post about a 11 week old puppy that needed a rescue. She had been thrown from a car and has a broken leg and pelvis. The people who witnessed it said they didn't get a good look at the car because they were so focused on her. They took her to a vet and they did x-rays on her. They said she has a broken leg and pelvis. They immediately started looking for a rescue to save her.
I'm an Admin for Saving St. Louis Pets and a foster for The Goode Life Rescue. Saving St. Louis Pets immediately started raising funds to help with the cost for any rescue that could tag her. I tagged the Foster Coordinator for the The Goode Life Rescue, that said, "I want her." They agreed to help try and save her. They didn't have any idea of what it would cost but they knew they had to try and save her. She was examined by Doctor Martin and he determined by X-rays and exams that she actually has 5 broken bones in her pelvis and a broken leg. He recommended her seeing an ortho specialist. We took her to VSS today and they gave us an estimate. 4000 being the high and 3000 being the low. The doctor said she has 5 breaks in her pelvis, two of them will require a metal plate to stabilize the joints. He feels one will heal on its own and another may require a pin as it is at the base of the vertebra. They are recommending the surgery be done within the week as she will develop calluses and blood clots at each fracture and the surgery will become more complex.
I've been fostering for about 8 months, I've had about 40 to 50 puppies and dogs go through my house. I can tell you, she's a great puppy and deserves to live. She doesn't whine, even with her injuries. She's always giving kisses and is so sweet. She's safe, warm, and on kennel rest with pain meds in my home. But she deserves to be a puppy. I want to see her play ball and run around like puppies do but until she gets this surgery, she can't.
Any extra money will go directly to her care and whatever she may need. She has a great team behind her, we just need your help!
