Help Save Lexa’s Life—My Rescue Dog Needs a Miracle

Last week, I brought Lexa to the vet after she injured her leg while running through the forest—one of her happiest places. What I thought would be a simple checkup turned into one of the most devastating days of my life. The vets discovered a large lump in her abdomen, and after further testing, they told me what no pet parent ever wants to hear: Lexa has a tumor on her spleen.

Somehow, by what feels like a miracle, the tumor hasn’t spread anywhere else. The vets believe there's hope—it may not be cancerous, but we won’t know for certain until they remove her spleen and biopsy the tumor. They told me she’s a strong candidate for surgery, and if we act quickly, there’s a real chance she can survive this and live many more happy, healthy years.

Lexa isn’t just my dog. She’s my first child, my emotional anchor, my very best friend. I adopted her when I was 21 and going through one of the hardest chapters of my life. She’s a rescue from Puerto Rico, found all alone in a dumpster. I picked her up when she was only eight weeks old, and since then, we’ve been inseparable. She’s been with me through everything—heartbreak, depression, anxiety, healing. She’s the reason I’ve made it through some of my darkest days.

The thought of losing her is unbearable. I’m doing everything I can to save her, but I’m facing a cost I simply can’t cover alone. The surgery and follow-up care will total over $7,000. I’m currently on disability support and while I have a small pet savings fund, it’s nowhere near enough for something like this.
