Mel is everything you could ever ask for in a friend. Kind, caring and loyal beyond words. We met at 17, twenty one years ago. Our connection was immediate and intense. From that moment on, we were inseparable. We have seen each other through all of life’s up and downs. Boyfriends, babies, marriage, more babies, divorce, cross county moves, and everything in between.
As we navigate these often stormy seas, our bond has only strengthened. Never a mountain together we could not climb.
Until recently.
On News Years Eve, while getting ready for a night of laughter, dancing and resolutions, Mel found a lump in her breast.
Every woman’s worst nightmare.
Every mother’s worst nightmare.
The weeks and months following have been a whirlwind of doctors visits, tests and surgery.
Finally in February, the diagnosis that has changed the course of her life, BREAST CANCER.
Mel is only 38. She has four beautiful children. Braydon (16) Madison (14) Mason (11) and Jaimeson ( 6). As a newly single mother, this devastating news has forced her to begin to prepare for the worst. And to prepare her children for the worst.
In spite of the odds stacked against her, in true Mel fashion, she has decided to kick cancers ass! Fearless and fierce she is tackling cancer with the same will and determination that lead her on a weight loss journey to losing almost a hundred pounds.
She is a force of nature and if anyone can overcome this, I know it is her.
The road ahead is difficult. With plenty of unknowns. Facing the uncertainty of being physically able to work while undergoing the rigorous treatment has lead me to launch this GoFundMe for her.
No one fighting for their life should have to worry about putting food on the table for their children or keeping a roof over their heads. It is my hope to raise $30,000 to enable Mel and her children to continue to live, heal and recover without worry. This money will allow her primary focus to be on the fight for her life.
Please help me help my best friend turn this into just another chapter in her best selling novel.
