Saving My Dreams from the Rubble of War

For my family and me, life in Gaza has become a daily battle for survival. With nowhere else to go, we’ve been forced to live in a temporary tent, surrounded by destruction and fear. Every day, we hear bombs, we tremble, and we face the harsh realities of war. We are desperate to escape – to give our children a chance to grow up in peace – but we can't do it alone. We need your help to make this life-saving journey abroad.
My name is Mohammed, a 30-year-old Palestinian from Gaza, newly married. My only wish now is to save my family from certain death after my father was martyred in this war. I write to you today in what feels like a final message, as a human being carrying the heavy burden of lost hope.
Just two months before the war began, I had achieved my dreams of building a home and a beautiful family, but all of that was suddenly shattered. On October 7, 2023, we woke up to the sounds of rockets and explosions, and terror filled our hearts. We left our home with nothing but a bag of clothes and our passports, watching as missiles crossed the sky, feeling like they were about to fall on us.
We sought refuge with a relative, but soon the circumstances forced us to flee to a shelter school in the middle of the city. We suffered from a lack of water and food, and fear accompanied us every day. After some time, we were forced to evacuate the city, and we moved to Al-Nuseirat, where we endured another two months of constant suffering.
"I lost my father in one of the tragic moments of war in Gaza, where his life was stolen in an unbearable way. He was the symbol of hope and strength in our family, and when he passed, he left behind a void that can never be filled. Every moment reminds me of his wisdom and love, but now I face a harsh reality filled with loneliness and loss."
Then came the order to move to Rafah, where we faced harsh conditions. My family suggested leaving Gaza, but the high travel costs, reaching $5,000 per person (we are 8 people), were beyond our means. When we learned that our home had been completely destroyed, it felt like everything we had built was torn down in an instant.
Now, we live in a small tent, no larger than 3x3 meters, where the conditions grow harsher by the day, and life becomes unbearable. Every day, we face the fear of the unknown, severe health challenges, freezing cold in the winter, and unbearable heat in the summer. With insects spreading, we suffer from skin problems. We don’t know if tonight will be the last night we spend together.
Do I not deserve a dignified life simply because I’m from Gaza? Today, I reach out to you to ask for your help in rebuilding my life and evacuating my family to safety. With your support, I can regain hope and build a better future for my family and me.
"Your support means more to us than words can express. Every donation is a ray of hope in the darkness of pain, and a step towards a better life for our children and families. Together, we can rebuild what has been destroyed and give them the chance to live with dignity. Your donation is not just aid, but an expression of your humanity and rejection of injustice. Let’s stand together and make a difference. Every moment of support contributes to changing our fate for the better. Thank you for standing by us."
