Saving Pun's Toy Store Bedrock of Ardmore

I am writing about a beloved local Main Line institution, Puns Toy Shop, owned and operated by Paulette Kules, and hoping that as neighbors, friends, fellow small business owners, or toy lovers, that you will find the worth of having Puns and Paulette in our neighborhood enough to help a little so we can continue to enjoy Puns and Paulette’s presence in a world so lacking of joy these days.

 
 Pun’s has been in existence for over thirty years, first in Bryn Mawr, and now in Ardmore since 2017. Paulette, with the long-time owner’s blessing, bought the store when Joe retired, and moved it to Ardmore where it quickly became a community favorite winning “Best of Main Line” honors in the toy store category numerous times, including this year.  Paulette Kules has brought her gift of community inclusiveness, friendliness, and dedication to serving all who enter her world of toys to every person who ventures through her doors. No matter what difficulties she’s going through, or what we may be going through, she is the kind of person who can always bring a smile to your face. She can help you find a toy for a child of any age, and she does this all with joy in her heart. It is why she opened the shop to begin with, so that she could interact with the community and spread the goodness that the world of toys offers to folks of all ages.

 
But we are all living through incredibly difficult times, and so many people are struggling in so many different ways. It is easy to get caught up in our own troubles, and yet I also see so many people trying to do what they can, when they can, to help others despite their own troubles. Small local businesses like Puns are desperately trying to keep afloat, and Paulette, on her own with her labor of love that is Puns Toy Shop has been trying hard to deal with a bureaucracy that doesn’t have enough resources to help all who are applying, or they are not responding in time to save the smallest of the small shops like Puns, where Paulette is a “one-woman show” right now trying to do the work that would normally take many employees to successfully complete.

 

So we are reaching out to you as friends, loyal customers, new customers, or customers-to-be, and anyone who see the incredible value of having shops like Puns in our communities.  We know that during this unprecedented time, we need all of our hard working community members and shop owners to survive because we are only a true community if we help our neighbors.  Paulette is our neighbor, living and working in Ardmore, and a truly caring community member so we will also be helping ourselves if we can help her navigate through these most treacherous times that we are all enduring.
