Saving Rex and Gigi's Life
Donation protected
Hello everyone, I recently adopted a puppy named Rex so my dog Gigi had a buddy to play with, I adopted him this past Sunday. On Monday the dog was as happy and as playful as can be, Once Tuesday came everything took a turn for the worst and my sweet little puppy was as sick as could be. The puppy would not eat, would not drink and would not play with my other dog Gigi like he was the day before having the time of his life. I immediately contacted my vet and was told to bring in a stool sample for the little guy, when the stool sample came back on Wednesday it was determined that he had Giardia and and a handful of many other Parasites he picked up from being in the shelter, I was prescribed meds for him but i wasn't able to give them to him as he wasn't able to even eat or drink water. Later Wednesday night things took a turn for the worst we let the puppy outside and he laid right down with no energy foaming at the mouth and puking with terrible diarrhea, I made the late night call to my vet that was in Queens at 11pm, and he rushed right up here and injected him with fluids under the skin to treat his dehydration, and informed us that he was full of parasites, we took him home and on Thursday he still would not eat so we could not administer the medication he needed to kill the Parasites, I then called the vet to let him know how things were going with the puppy and i was instructed to bring him in immediately, I left work early and brought him in he had to get a Catheter put into his neck and he has been getting pumped with intravenous fluids and the medicine he needs to get better, On Friday (Today), the only improvements the dog has made is he can lift his head up now and walk.... When I got home from work today I was getting ready to go and visit him and my 3 year old sweetheart Gigi was vomiting and foaming at the mouth like my puppy Rex. The parasites are very contagious and got to her as well, I picked up her Medicine today and now she will not eat or drink either so I made her a bland diet consisting of Hamburger and Sweet potatoes' I had to feed her the Hamburger piece by piece and she tried to eat and could not hold it down. Now I am sitting here with a dying dog in the vet hospital and my other dog at the base of my bed needing to be hospitalized as well, I've spent almost every last dollar we have to get this puppy well and happy again, He needs to be kept in the hospital longer so he can get better and i do not have the funds to get him the treatment he needs at the hospital for much longer and now my other dog is needing the same treatment and we have no money left to spare for her... If anyone could help us with this terrible experience it would be greatly appreciated we adopted Rex to save his life, and we would like to continue saving him and give him the best life possible. Rex may need surgery to get better and possibly my Dog Gigi as well... If you read this far thank you very much and anything helps!
