Smokey Needs Life Saving Surgery

Hello Friends!
I've created this page for Smokey, my 18 month old Firepoint Siamese. We rescued Smokey at 3 months old from a hoarding situation where his coat was matted, he was covered in fleas and very sick. We nursed him back to health over the months but when he was 5 months old Smokey was diagnosed with a very rare chronic autoimmune disease called Feline Stomatitis. It affects the gums and mouth causing severe inflammation, swelling and pain for the kitty. I've done all sorts of research to try and "cure" Smokey of this horrible illness... Including testing for allergies, bartonellosis, Cali Virus, FIP/FIV etc... And Smokey has been on rounds of steroids, different types of antibiotics (Penicillin, amoxcillin, Azythromycin) plus special limited ingredient foods, prescription foods etc... And has went to see two Dental Vet Specialist who has ultimately recommended pulling ALL of Smokey's teeth under xray to make sure to remove all the roots too. This procedure may sound extreme but this particular autoimmune disease causes an unusual immune response toward the cat's teeth and gums... mostly thought to be triggered from plaque. This reaction is so extreme it causes the teeth to decay, gums to inflame all the way down to the bone and excruciating pain for the cat! The Dental Vets said with FULL MOUTH EXTRACTIONS (FME) you will see 80-90% of cats go into full remission and become happy and healthy again! And that is our GOAL! This is the LONG term cure for Feline Stomatitis. It however is NOT cheap.
I am asking for ANY donation you can spare because I've depleted my funds over the year trying to find things that will help keep Smokey comfortable. Nothing is working anymore and he is starting to become weak. He has swelling so bad now that it makes him gag, scream in pain, paw at his mouth, and starve because eating is so painful! The cost of the FME will be around $1,000! I have some in CareCredit available but need help as much as possible. Smokey and I would be forever grateful! (Follow Smokey's story on a special Facebook community created by me specifically for Feline Stomatitis and their "parents" FB: Feline Stomatitis Community)
Sincerely,
Karen Jennings and Furry Kid (Smokey)
