Saving Our Boys Now

While working for the department of corrections as a Transition Facilitator, I would stand outside my office periodically. Watching as they brought in the new inmates. What I would see would change my heart for the remainder of my life. I witness boys coming into the facility at an alarming rate. This disturbed me to my core. They would come in almost 2 times daily by 10's.
I immediately went back into my office and started sobbing, and that's when I heard from within my spirit, "THAT IS IT!!"
Hence the name S.O.B.N. = Just like it sounds...Short for Saving Our boys Now.
This is what I will commit the rest of my life to, saving boys from the cracks of the streets and the enemy. So far I have been at it for well over three years. Visiting their schools; Hungerford Elementary, Maitland Middle and Edgewater High schools advocating for boys wherever they are; sometimes on some weird hours, in the streets, at homes in their neighborhoods, sporting events and sometimes in the malls.
Recruiting males that have a love for boys in the inner city boys to help cultivate a new behavior.
I would find myself buying clothes for some of them. Taking them on field trips, with the hopes that they will get a glimpse of what they can become. Marching in parades, teaching them:
- Life Skills
- Leadeship Developement
- Spiritual Development
- Conducting Interviews
- Self Esteem
- Respect Self/Others/ Females/ Authority
- Character Development
- Vocabulary Building
- Conflict Resolution
- Etc
Also teaching them that their lives were are worth something.
S.O.B.N. does have some financial help in which I am grateful for. This help allows me to host weekly meetings on Mondays for two hours, school and home visits and all the above. We can say these 26 boys are not on the streets becoming bored for two hours.
In 2012, My time with DOC came to an abrupt end forcing me to work odds and ends and contracted jobs to help support my family. My calling, the success of boys and other obvious reasons indicates that this program is needed on a full time basis.
And I am reaching out to ask you my family, friends and partners to go fund me for this cause. I need your commitment of $5-$1000, a month for the next 3 years or if you know or have the resources to fund this full time for 3 years at $38,000 a year to reach my goal. You would help put me in the battle to save the live of boys NOW and years to come.
By the way S.O.B.N. is a 501c3 organization, which means any of the dollars we receive from you or your organizations can be written off in your taxes at the end of the year.
Help me SAVE OUR BOYS NOW!!
Thank you in advance.
