Savings Sue's Home

If you know Sue Hall, you know that she would rather give help than receive help.  She is there for others when they are in need and never wants recognition.  But, for once, it's time for Sue's friends to help her, even though she would never ask for it.

On Friday, April 9th, as tornadoes swept through Columbia, MS, a large pine tree sliced Sue's house in half, its branches tearing through most of the rooms.  Sue and her son had taken refuge in a small closet on the right hand side of the house.  Had they been in their usual spot, we'd be mourning their deaths.

The fire department immediately roped off the house and forbade anyone to enter.  And, for the next three days, it rained.  Everything in the house that wasn't destroyed by the tree was drenched.  Sue got out with a pair of yoga pants and a few t-shirts.

Of course, Sue immediately contacted her insurance carrier, and those wheels are turning very very slowly (think snail's pace).  It will likely take months before a determination is made on whether any part of the house can be salvaged or whether it is a total loss.  Sue has secured a temporary place to stay,  and she borrowed two mattresses so they at least have something to sleep on.

It's unclear at this point what might be covered, but it is clear that almost everything they had in their home, including their home, was destroyed.  Stay tuned, as we'll be providing updates, and, if you're inclined,  a contribution of any amount would be welcome and greatly appreciated.
