Mere sympathy won't help Gaza survive the genocide. Let Us Act “Together for Palestine”!
Since October 7th, around 32,000 citizens have been killed, with a heartbreaking majority being children and women. Over 1.6 million out of 2.3 million citizens have been forced to evacuate to uncertain destinations as heavy airstrikes persist. Many sought refuge in schools or hospitals, while others found shelter with relatives. Some took to the streets, with only the sky as their makeshift cover. The gravity of this situation underscores the urgent need for support and intervention.
Who we are?
Since 2006, the Social Developmental Forum (SDF) has actively established a network of youth groups and organizations. Our steadfast commitment revolves around catalyzing positive transformation within Palestinian local communities, focusing on empowering youth, women, and people with disabilities. At the core of our mission lies the unwavering belief in creating an inclusive 'Community for All.'
Members of the SDF acted promptly to reorganize our youth groups, mobilizing them to respond urgently to the critical needs under the urgent national relief campaign 'Together for Palestine T4P'
We extend an invitation for you to join the T4P campaign, implemented in partnership with our strategic partner, the Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) in Palestine to foster resilience among the Gazan community.
In our efforts to support displaced citizens, we encountered numerous heart-breaking stories involving children, women, families, and individuals with disabilities. Among those we met was Kifaya, who endured burns from relentless airstrikes while pregnant. Sadly, she didn’t make it and she lost her life during treatment, leaving baby Farah as an orphan (by the way, "Farah" means "Joy").
We'd also like to introduce Yousef, suddenly displaced with no access to food, water, warm clothing, and dreams of going back to school, just like the normal days of his past.
While we've taken various actions to help people like the families of Kifaya and Yousef, yet, the calls for help keep increasing by the minute. We urgently appeal to you to join us in extending a helping hand to meet the daily needs of these innocent individuals, especially women, children, and people with disabilities. Here's how your support will be implemented:
1. Essential Food Supplies: Your donations will help us supply crucial food packages, including vegetables, water, quick and easy-to-prepare meals, bread/wheat, and other essentials. For those without cooking facilities, we'll also distribute ready-to-eat meals. The cost of one family package (for an average of 5 persons) is nearly EUR 70. Our goal is to support at least 800 families, prioritizing families with kids, persons with disabilities, or elderly members. In total, we will spend EUR 56,000.
2. Clothing and Bedding: Winter has arrived, and some people fled bombings with only the clothes on their backs. Others were evacuated three months ago when the weather was still warm in Gaza. Your help can provide warm clothing and bedding to those on the streets and tents.
Our goal is simple: we don't want to see kids shivering in the cold. We aim to provide winter clothes and sleeping covers for 600 children for EUR 20 per child, totaling EUR 12,000. Your support can make a significant difference in keeping these kids safe and protected.
3. Hygiene and Medical Supplies: Essential personal hygiene supplies will be distributed to displaced citizens, especially women and persons with disabilities, to reduce the spread of diseases in the absence of proper public services. Each kit, comprising holistic hygiene supplies, comes for EUR 40. Our goal is to reach 550 families, and we are seeking a total budget of EUR 22,000 to ensure that these essential kits can be provided to those in need.
4. Psychological Support Activities: Trained volunteer teams will provide psychological first aid interventions, focusing on displaced children and teenagers in their shelters to alleviate stress, enhance resilience, and provide strategies for coping with the harsh realities they face. These activities involve playing, dancing, and painting with children. We also distribute toys to kids and showcase films using simple tools. We will allocate EUR 10,000 to target 5000 displaced children in 20 activities. Their smiles deserve to be shared, even in the worst circumstances.
