Sayuri's Lung Recovery

Donation protected
I’m writing on behalf of the Lopez family, a family that is dear to my heart. Sayuri and I grew up together so she is more like a sister than a friend, but anyone who knows her can attest to the amazingly kind and caring person she is. Sayuri is blessed to be married to the love of her life Michael, and together they have their precious Isaac.

But just days prior to Isaac's 1st birthday, Sayuri suddenly began spitting up blood, which quickly escalated to a frightening period due to it compromising her airway, and causing her to choke. She rushed to the hospital where she was immediately separated from her family as the medical team needed to rule out anything contagious and was put in isolation. Being able to do so and find out it was probably just a simple infection, they sent her home just in time for her son’s 1st birthday. Yet shortly after celebrating Isaac, she continued spitting up blood and her oxygen levels dropped. Once more she was admitted to the hospital, and after hours of testing, low oxygen levels, and continuous coughing up of blood, tests revealed a large mass consisting of cysts which were blocking her superior lobe. Unsure of what exactly this meant, doctors attempted an embolism and other procedures to stop the bleeding, but she was told that she would need surgery to remove the cysts and most likely a portion of her lung to ensure the bleeding would completely stop.

We thank God that surgery went well! There is a very long recovery ahead. The Lopez family has always been a shining example of giving, lifting others up even in the face of challenges. Today, we have the chance to give back to this extraordinary family as they navigate a journey that requires our collective support.

We want this family to put their energy into Sayuri’s recovery and healing but the financial burden of home care, food, and/or other essential expenses can be overwhelming. We have the opportunity to show our support by lifting some of this burden from their shoulders. Your contribution, big or small, will directly impact their journey and help ease the financial stress while sending a powerful message of love and solidarity, reminding the Lopez family that they are not alone on this journey.

With an appreciative heart,

Liannys Alvarez
