Street Safety in Southern Brooklyn
Donation protected
Street safety is a real concern in southern Brooklyn. Last year, 57 families lost loved ones to traffic crashes in Brooklyn, more than any other borough. While the rest of the City has seen pedestrian deaths decline, Brooklyn fatalities in 2017 were up nearly 12 percent. Parents, seniors, and pedestrians of all ages should not have to live in fear of crossing the street in their own neighborhood.
The single biggest thing we can all do to help make our streets safer doesn't require any government funding or passing new laws. Sometimes we just need a friendly reminder to slow down.
That’s why I'm launching a community-wide crowdfunding campaign to purchase 200 “Drive Like Your Kids Live Here” lawn signs for our neighborhood.
Signs cost $224.99 for a pack of 25. Everyone who donates will receive a sign, and the rest will be given out first come, first-served basis.
