Scamp needs anemia shots
Donation protected
If you know me, you know that Scamp is my furry child through and through. We rescued each other almost 16 years ago and he has been my best friend. A couple of years ago, he was diagnosed with kidney disease. We have been managing it pretty well, but he has now been diagnosed with non-regenerative anemia as secondary to the kidney disease. His internal medicine veterinarian has started him on aranesp injections to help, but we both misunderstood that the vial is single-use and now, the injections will cost $300/week. He will also need to get weekly blood tests to monitor his progress and check for adverse reactions, as well as iron injections to assist the aranesp. His first blood work will happen on 6/27.
I never wanted to have to ask for help, but the time has come so I can keep scamp as comfortable as possible. Please consider helping me help him.
pupdate 6/19: THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far. You all have me crying with how generous you have been. I spoke with Scamp’s internal med vet and she said that in veterinary medicine, it’s common practice to use the vial for more than one dose even though it’s labeled as single-use for humans. This is extremely good news! Also good news is that I went to my grocery store pharmacy and they said they will try to get the aranesp there but they have to process a script from his vet (which she sent today) to see how much it would come to in total. BUT, it should hopefully come down to less than $200/bottle instead of $360 I ordered this first one at.
