Scarborough Rugby Athletes Represent Canada

Scarborough RFC was founded in 2021, and this year we've had several talented female rugby athletes become eligible to represent our province of Ontario, and/or our country, Canada. For most women's athletes in our community, these elite opportunities come at a personal expense to the participant and create a barrier for female rugby players to go to national or provincial camps, trials, tours and matches.

This season, seven (7) Scarborough-based players have been invited on tour to represent Canada and while our rugby club wishes to have extra resources available to financially contribute to their success on the pitch, we are not able to do so at this time. As an alternative solution, we hope to support our athletes by spreading the word and help to raise the funds for our deserving athletes who may not otherwise have the chance to fulfill their dreams of high-level competition. Scarborough Aces is posting our first GoFundMe campaign to allow friends, family, followers and supporters of our elite ruggers to help cover the continued expenses still necessary for women to attend such events.

As the organizers of this campaign, we will split any general donations (up to $12,000) to the current representative rugby players on the Scarborough Aces team. Any player-specific donations can be given directly to the athlete by indicating who you wish to receive your generous contribution – simply leave a comment with the Scarborough athlete’s name. All funds exceeding our target will be placed aside for future rugby stars representing Scarborough at the international level in 2024, and beyond.

Tamisha Toussaint - Canada Ravens, Scarborough Aces Flanker/Number Eight

Petra Woods - Canada Ravens, Scarborough Aces Outside Centre/Fullback

Sara Canini – Canada Ravens (Staff), Scarborough Aces Wing/Scrum Half

The Canada Ravens are competing in the Americas North Championships in Jamaica with the expenses sitting at $1,700 per athlete. The U23 Rugby Canada squad competed in the Border Battle in United States of America, with athlete fees costing $1,800. We hope soon they’ll have the direct support of our country and province to have zero-cost to entry, however it is not a reality for them at this time. Any donation towards these athletes supports their dreams of representing their country in elite-level sports.
