Scarlett Black Medical Fund

Hi my name is Kimmie and im fundraising for my niece Scarlett Black.

A letter from Shaina and Jake Black: Last Saturday morning our beautiful daughter woke up very pale and feeling very ill. After a rapid drive to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara it was determined Scarlett was suffering from a condition called Hemolytic Anemia and required immediate blood transfusion. This condition was brought on by a virus she picked up and created an extreme inflammatory response. After 1 blood transfusion at Cottage, the specialist all agreed she needed a higher level of care. At that time, it was decided she would be immediately transferred by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Los Angeles CA. We have been here since Saturday evening, over which time she has undergone more than 8 blood transfusions and is still in critical condition.

Scarlett is our first born daughter. As many know, she has a zest and spunk for life unlike any other. She is a fighter and will continue to fight her way through this. She is strong and in good spirits. We know this road will be long and hard and we anticipate being in the hospital for at least another week. There is a lot of unknown for us right now, which is why we are reaching out to our friends and family to ask for any support possible. Prayers, financial assistance, anything that can be given to help us during this trying time will be so much appreciated. We are having to lodge in hotels nearby the hospital, while i go back and forth since i have Skylar who is only 8 weeks old and still breastfeeding. She is not allowed in the hospital so we are having to reach out to friends and family to help watch her so i can visit Scarlett in the hospital multiple times daily.
