'Schizoid' Student Short Film

Hello world!

My name is Logan McCool, I am currently a filmmaking student in L.A. prepping for my final "thesis" short film! This final piece is what will hopefully help jumpstart my career, and lead to more opportunities. Once completed, I will be able to submit my film to festivals, which help spread the word about both me and the film. This will be an amazing opportunity to show my work, as well as network and meet people, such as agents, executives, producers, other filmmakers, etc.

'Schizoid' is a thriller short story about a college student who captures the man that killed his best friend in a hate crime, torturing him for answers. This film will be a story about pain, grief, and questionable decision-making. I want the audience to question what is right and what is wrong; who is really good, and who is really bad. My film 'Schizoid' draws inspiration from films such as 'Prisoners,' 'Hard Candy' and 'Blue Ruin.'

My personal connection to the story, I believe, gives me a unique opportunity to create something great and impactful. When I was 15, I lost a close friend who was killed in a hate crime. It was a tough time for my friends and I to understand and fight through, especially at that young age. When I started crafting ideas together on what to make for my final film at school, I wanted to make something personal, and something to really set a standard and tone of who I am, and what my work and style are like.

To give you a little breakdown of where most of my budget is going, the following is needed for my film shoot:

Location: $2,600

Equipment insurance & workers comp: $1,500

Truck rental: $500

FX Makeup: $500

Props: $200

Production Design: $300

Extra film equipment: $300

Catering: $700

Craft services: $300

Sound: $600

And so much more!
