Schlomo's Survival

Donation protected
On November 14, 2022, we received our Pekingese, Schlomo from a Breeder in Vinton, VA. This is one month after losing the Pekingese we have had for 15 years to prostate cancer. After receiving both chemotherapy and radiation, he passed away.

When our Pekingese Schlomo arrived, we were advised by the transporter that he was very ill. She described that he was lethargic, had no appetite, and had diarrhea during the trip to our home in New York City. When we brought him into our home, we noticed how weak he was. He could barely stand up and when he tried to, he would flop over to his side and fall asleep. The very next day, my husband took him to our Vet who ran several tests for parasites/worms and Coccidia. After daily visits to our Vet, it was determined that he needed 24-hour critical care. Schlomo was diagnosed with Coccidia and was filled with worms, tapeworms, and other parasites. Schlomo failed their Out-Patient Care.

We are doing everything we can to save Schlomo's life. He is currently in the ICU at the Emergency and Critical Care at Cornell University Veterinary Specialists in Stamford, CT. Schlomo is receiving 24-hour critical care at that location. Due to a lack of appetite, they have inserted a feeding tube into his nose. He has been getting IV fluids on a regular basis. His temperature has been difficult to regulate so he is currently on a heating pad. They are also giving him a variety of medications and monitoring him constantly.

After being there for a couple of days, they determined he contracted pneumonia. So, he is currently in an oxygen tent and can not breathe well when he is taken out for brief moments.

We need help with Schlomo's medical bills. Any contribution no matter how small will be appreciated. If u have any questions, please feel free to call Cornell Medical Center.

UPDATE: Schlomo just received a blood transfusion due to low red blood cells. His temperature drops due to having no fat or body mass because of the worms and parasites that have invaded his small underweight body.
