The Schmidty Committee Needs Us!

Hi, my name is Lindsey, and I'm raising money for The Schmidt Family. Dave and Colleen Schmidt have five boys under 12 and another baby boy due in 3 weeks. Colleen is a stay-at-home mom, and Dave is the sole provider for the family.

 

Dave had a cardiac event last week, is in heart failure, and unable to work. He is a flooring installer and will never be able to return to his job. He will be a heart patient for the rest of his life, and the entire family will have to redefine their new normal.

 

Dave is the president of the Berkley Dads Club. Between he and Colleen they have spent the last ten years volunteering literally thousands hours coaching teams, creating schedules, doing field maintenance, designing and distributing uniforms, being advocates for youth sports and recreation in our city not to mention the untold and unseen activies that go along with running a youth organization this size.  Many, many families have benefitted from their hard work and generosity and now they need the community to lift them up and help them navigate this difficult transition.

 

Between doctor visits, hospital stays, Dave's medications, and all the needs that come with a large family with six small children, the Schmidt Family needs are really diverse.  In addition to Dave's current diagnosis, their youngest son Tommy at only 3 years old has had two heart operations. He was born with a very rare congenital heart condition that will require lifelong care. In lieu of a meal-train, we are asking for donations to see them through this very difficult time managing their second health crisis in only 3 years. 

 

Let's rally around them, in any way we can, and help them feel the love that they have showed to all of us by giving it back to them. Any amount is appreicated and will go toward the bills, groceries and living expenses for this wonderful family.
