Objective
El Valle is starting up SEPTEMBER 20! The kids are in need of school supplies. With the recent assassination of the Haitian president and earthquakes, more kids have been fleeing to the Dominican Republic. El Valle now has 260 students! In order to improve their education, the kids need your help. Parents in Haiti earn a meager $100 per month; this is not enough to provide food, water, shelter, and let alone school supplies. Most parents also have more than one child, which means their monthly payment will not allow them to afford the bare necessities.
A donation of $25 will provide one student with a backpack, notebooks, and pencils!

Background
Majority of Haitians have suffered in poverty and environmental risks their whole lives, leading them to migrate to the Dominican Republic. However, in search of a better life, they do not find what they are looking for and continue to live in poverty. Along with this, they do not receive a proper education. Help Haitians in the DR believes these kids deserve a real chance at a future. We are partnering with a small non-profit school, El Valle, in the western part of the Dominican Republic close to the Haitian border which has about 260 kids who are in need of basic school supplies. Please donate so we can help the kids.
El Valle is run by a Roman Catholic congregation of religious sisters called, the Daughters of Jesus. Biula Ramos Muñoz, the leading nun, and her fellow nuns work very hard every day to provide education for these kids. El Valle has kids that range from 5-19 years old and provides grades from kindergarten to 6th grade. This school is very small with only one solidly built classroom while the other classrooms are made of temporary structures like scraps of metal, plastic, and zinc roofs. Not only will your donations go to supplies, but also classrooms in the future.
