School Supplies for Sudan - Chapter 3
Donation protected
This fundraiser aims to alleviate the impacts of the war in Sudan, focusing on making education more accessible in Sudan. Contributions will be used to purchase and distribute essential materials such as school books, fans, and water coolers to schools in need. Additionally, critical items like food supplies will be provided to displacement shelters, where the majority of residents are food insecure and have virtually no access to aid.

Salam everyone -
I am a Sudanese-American college student currently based in the US. I grew up frequenting Sudan during summer vacations, an experience many from the diaspora share.
However, these fond memories have become increasingly distant over the past year. As you may know, on April 15th, 2023, war erupted in Sudan, altering the landscape of our country.
In the 14 months since, Sudan has devolved into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with nearly a quarter - over 10 million people - of its population displaced, with 70% - 80% of the nation’s healthcare infrastructure collapsed, 24.5 million people in need of basic humanitarian assistance, and 2.5 million people projected to die of famine by September of 2024, to name just a few of the horrifying statistics.
Amongst these crises, Sudan has been deemed the world’s largest internal displacement, the world’s largest child displacement crisis, and the world’s worst education crisis, with - for the majority of the war - 19 million children out of school.
In the past ~2 months, however, primary and secondary schools have begun to re-open in some of the Sudanese cities that have been spared from conflict and active warfare. Despite this, the conditions for students are quite dismal, with the schools also doubling as displacement shelters for the hundreds of thousands that have fled from conflict zones in Sudan, and lacking basic necessities such as water and fans in well over 100 F, or ~40 C weather.
Students as well, both those native to these cities and those who have been displaced, lack the resources to purchase the schoolbooks essential for their education. They also struggle to obtain other basic necessities, from food to medication, which are vital for a safe and conducive learning environment.
One of these cities is Port Sudan, which my family and I are fortunate enough to be able to travel to at the end of June, Inshallah.
As such, we are looking to raise funds to help alleviate the impacts of the war in Sudan, with our primary focus on making education more accessible. My family and I will purchase and distribute the materials ourselves in Port Sudan, which will include school books, fans, and water coolers for the schools open and in need, and critical items such as food supplies for the displacement shelters, the majority of whose populations are food insecure with virtually no access to aid.
Anything you are able to give helps, and we thank you for your generous contribution for helping us to do what the international community has failed to do for Sudan.
