Thames Path Challenge

Donation protected

On 11th/12th September a team of teaching staff, parents, young people, therapists and service managers will be walking, jogging or
running either 25km, 50km and some the full 100 km along the Thames Path from Putney to Henley to raise money to fund the much
needed therapy service in their schools.    No-one has been untouched by this crisis and mental health issues are at an all time high and
services are at capacity with waiting lists of 6-9 months.   This is why it is so important to have a service in school which can be accessed

NO ONE SHOULD FACE MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS ALONE

No one has been untouched by this crisis and as a result mental health issues
are growing exponentially due to

Family Bereavement
Loneliness/Isolation
Work pressures
Job losses
Family Breakdown
Suicidal Thoughts

and for our young people

the thought of a loss of a future, loss of exams, university places, hope
all of which has an impact on the emotional wellbeing and the academic
achievement of our children and young people

The Schools Counselling Partnership provide a therapeutic service across 35
schools in Ealing, Harrow and Tower Hamlets offering  support to children,
young people, parents, carers and teaching staff providing one to one support, group work,
workshops, assemblies, trainings and more recently online CBT
sessions for parents and staff.    Whilst most of our work is face to face in
schools we have also moved our service online for those who feel vulnerable
and exposed or who are unable to come into school    We have also started to
run online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy  groups for both parents and staff.

During this time school budgets have been stretched as they have to buy in
PPE equipment to keep their staff, children and young people safe.   They have had additional staffing
costs while some staff have had to shield or isolate.   Therefore they have some
tough decisions to make about how they spend their money.

Please help to help them not to have to make the very difficult decision of not
having therapeutic support in their schools at a time when it has never been
needed more.
