Scilly Cay Island Rebuilding
Donation protected
Dear beloved friends of Scilly Cay,
In September of 2017, the Caribbean was devastated by a Category 5 Hurricane (Irma). Anguilla and its neighboring islands suffered most of the destruction, leaving thousands of people with no homes, and their livelihoods at stake. Unfortunately, Scilly Cay did not escape Hurricane Irma's wrath. Our dock, which was used to transport people to and from the ferry to the restaurant, was shattered and parts of it flung over to the bayside by Island Harbor. Our gazebos had been dilapidated, toilets and water cistern, had been uprooted, the sand had eroded rooting out boulders of rocks from underneath. Sadly, 2 months later, our family suffered another hardship, Scilly Cay's co-owner Eudoxie Gorgeous Wallace, passed away after his battle with cancer. Unfortunately, we cannot rebuild and repair, without your help. We want to rebuild our dock as soon as possible so we can open access to the cay. We are asking for your assistance to help us repair Scilly, in order for us to continue Gorgeous' legacy, and to remain as one of the must see attractions when visiting Anguilla for another 30 years. We appreciate your kindness and generosity.
