Scoil Chormaic & Down Syndrome Tipp Fundraiser

I have decided to take on the ‘Quest 12 Beara Adventure Race’ on the 28th August 2021 and in doing so, I am raising money for the Scoil Chormaic School in Cashel and the Down Syndrome Ireland Tipperary Branch.

Scoil Chormaic is a vibrant school providing educational services for 222 students with specific special educational needs, intellectual disabilities and/or Autism aged from 3 to 18 years that enhances the lives of each student.

Down Syndrome Ireland has 25 branches nationwide. These branches are run almost exclusively by volunteer parents and provide children and adults with Down syndrome and their families with a wide range of vital services and social opportunities.

Quest 12 Beara, is being held on the stunning Beara Peninsula in West Cork, starting and finishing in Castletownbere.

The aim of the race is to complete the 151.9km route with a total elevation of 3,183m within 12 hours. The route involves an 18.35km Run/Hike (Stage 1), 82.3km Cycle (Stage 2), 12.10km Run (Stage 3), 25.88km Cycle (Stage 4), 1.5km Kayak (Stage 5), 10.28km Run (stage 6)and finally, a 1.5km Kayak (Stage 7) back to the finish line.

This event will test those who enter. Some will compete to win; some will compete to finish the route in the allotted time and others will compete to see just how far they can push themselves. My aim/goal is to push myself as far as I can to complete the race within the 12 hours.
