Scorhill Short Film

Donation protected
"Scorhill" is a short drama set in Devon. We follow Oscar, who returns to his rural Dartmoor home to stay with Henry after the tragic death of childhood friend, Kyan, in a car accident. Oscar’s return forces him to confront his roots, relationships and mortality.

From our director:
"I was initially working on a script about friendship set in Devon, my home. But something happened that completely changed the story I wanted to tell. Some people I grew up with were involved in a tragic car accident. All over the country - an epidemic of disenfranchised young people are taking risks and paying the price, young people who have so much to live for, loving families, friends, and partners.

The story explores themes of loss, relationships, social conditions, and internal struggle. Devon has always suffered from a lack of prospects and opportunities, which can often lead to substance misuse and criminality, such as getting involved with county lines; I’ve watched this happen to many people I know and love. If you are lucky enough to have options, lots of people choose to leave, putting a huge strain on friendships just like Oscar and Henry’s.

Dartmoor’s landscape might be barren and bleak, but it’s also undeniably beautiful. It has been the backdrop to my life; friendships, losses, relationships, and arguments have all played out underneath stormy skies, big orange sunsets, on top of rolling hills and in small towns. It’s a huge part of who I am, tied inextricably to my past and future. This tension between beauty and hardship, connection and loss, drives the story I want to tell."

We are seeking support to cover the essential costs of bringing this film to life. The funds raised will go directly toward accommodation and meals for our actors and crew during the shoot, ensuring that everyone is comfortable and well taken care of. We are placing a large portion of our budget into this to ensure a happy shoot! Additionally, a portion of the budget will cover the necessary insurance and permits for our great locations, which are vital to legally and safely filming in these areas.

Your contribution will play a crucial role in helping us manage these essential expenses, allowing us to focus on delivering a high-quality production. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to completing this exciting project, and we are truly grateful for your support.
