Scoring for SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS

Hi there, We're Gerry Madden and Andy Simpson, a songwriting team from Ontario, Canada that specializes in rock opera. Our latest project, SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS, is aiming for a staged reading in our hometown of Carleton Place next year. SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS, a one-act rock musical, tells the story of a series of events during the first three months of the academic year at G.A. Madson Middle School in the small town of Madsonville, Ontario. We see these events from the point of views of Simon, a young 14-year-old boy who is new to the school, and Mr. Greene, a well-loved teacher.

The 27-song score was released as a double CD in November 2022. However, recording the music and writing it down on paper are two different things. In order to prepare for this reading (and for the show's future in production and licensing), we need to generate sheet music of the piece for our cast to sing from, and we've been quoted anywhere from $1,400-$1,600 (CAN) for just a piano/vocal score. Luckily, we have potential candidates who could knock out this job in two months. Unluckily, we don't have that kind of scratch.
