Scot Goes Pop polling 2021-22

Hi, I'm James Kelly, and I write the pro-independence blog Scot Goes Pop. Since January 2020 I've commissioned five full-scale Scottish opinion polls about independence and related matters, all conducted by reputable firms affiliated to the British Polling Council. Polls are very expensive to commission and are therefore mostly the preserve of the mainstream media - which means that it's mainly people who aren't sympathetic to independence that decide when polls appear and what questions are asked. Crowdfunding our own polls helps to redress that balance - we can pose the questions that unionists would prefer were never asked.

Several of the Scot Goes Pop polls so far have been genuine landmarks - the one in January 2020 showed the highest Yes vote since immediately after the EU referendum in 2016. The one in June 2020 proved to be the first in the long unbroken sequence of more than twenty polls showing a Yes lead. And the one in November 2020 showed the highest ever Yes vote in a Panelbase poll. A number of the polls have also uncovered substantial public support for a so-called "Plan B" for securing an independence mandate.

With your help I hope to produce more polling this year and next, with questions and timing chosen for maximum impact. Bear in mind that positive results are never guaranteed in polling - but you don't find out the answer if you never ask the question.
