Scot Van Uitert Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Scot Van Uitert is widely known within his community, his faith group, and the company he works for, SnapAV/Control4. He is always quick to offer his help to any/all in need, whether that be family members, his neighbors, the young men of the youth group he leads for his church, his coworkers, or complete strangers. In his business life, Scot is a go-to tech leader upon whom many rely for his extensive knowledge, experience, and his long list of achievements. Just prior to the 2020 holidays, Scot celebrated his 15-year anniversary with the company.

As many of you may be aware, not long ago Scot began experiencing severe pain in his lower back and legs. After several months of unsuccessful pain therapies, Scot’s medical team made an important discovery and revised their diagnosis and treatment plan: Scot has stage 4 cancer that had metastasized to his spine. Most recently, a follow-up full bone scan revealed that the cancer has progressed far more extensively than the spinal biopsy initially revealed. Cancerous growths have taken hold throughout his skeletal system.

With Scot's and his wife Karen's inner strength, the expertise of his medical team, and our combined thoughts and prayers, all are confident Scot will beat this thing and emerge stronger and healthier than before. But he's in for a long and difficult battle involving intense chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and pain management -- in short, the heaviest artillery medical science can bring to the fight.

Few of us are in a position to assist Scot directly in his battle against advanced bone cancer, but we can help alleviate the secondary burdens that accompany it. With this GoFundMe, we appeal to all whose lives have been touched by Scot and Karen to stand with them and lend them a hand throughout their ordeal. We can continue to dedicate our thoughts and prayers to Scot's recovery, donate blood for his recurring transfusions (see below), and through this fund, provide his family whatever financial assistance we can.

Since Scot took medical leave from work in mid-December, short-term disability insurance has replaced his working income. Short-term disability will soon transition to long-term. Despite the blessings of insurance coverage, the payments fall far short of his salary. Let's work together to fix this and any additional obstacles that interfere with his treatment and recovery.

Thanks so much for your help!
