Rallying to world most inconvenient places for Mental health

Donation protected
Join us (Maeve the Fiat 127, Jan & Annie) on an adventure of a lifetime to raise funds and awareness for Mental Health .

We are heading from the Highlands of Scotland to some of the worlds most inconvenient places across Europe, Africa and Asia in the summer of 2024 as part of the Adventurists annual points of inconvenience rally, 10,000 miles of chaos across mountain, deserts and steppe on roads ranging from bad to not-a-road in a tiny car.

Each pole is a carefully crafted nugget of splendid inconvenience. They could be anywhere from the Arctic circle in Norway to a lonely Western Saharan ghost town. Or way over to the east on a Turkish mountain pass cliff-dangler.

We are setting off in a 903cc Fiat 127 from 1975 (the extra 3cc is going to give us an undoubtable edge) , living on the road, tackling the worlds most dangerous roads and raising awareness for our chosen charities - Mikeysline and Cool Earth.

Mikeysline supports those in need of mental health resources across the north of Scotland.

Cool Earth exists to give directly to rainforest communities, to fund projects that create choice, tackle the root causes of deforestation and protect vital carbon sinks. To back people, to protect the rainforest and fight the climate crisis.

Both of us are incredibly passionate about the impact of the climate crisis and the affect that mental health can have on individuals. Annie lost her father to mental health in 2019 and is keen to celebrate her dad’s achievements along the way. Jan has always dreamed of an extended road trip to far away countries - but what’s better than throwing caution to the wind to celebrate loved ones & support the work of several incredible charities!

We know how difficult loosing a loved one to mental health is and are both keen to flip the script on discussions around mental health, to reflect how we treat physical health which can only be done through the key work Mikeysline provides.

Keeping your loved ones memory alive after a loss is so important, we decided to immortalise their memory in the most public setting we could, by taking their memories and achievements with us halfway across the world. Discussions about mental health are often behind closed doors and many of those left behind feel detached from their loved one due to the misunderstood nature of suicide and mental health. TeamMaeve chooses to focus on the positives, drawing upon our own experiences with mental health and bereavement to reshape grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide.

We are inviting members of our communities to celebrate loved ones who have been lost to mental health by sharing their stories and writing their loved ones names on Maeve’s bonnet so that they too can come along for the adventure, albeit symbolically. To add your loved ones name/positive story directly, or request a name be written down on your behalf on Maeve’s bonnet please contact our social medias.
