Scott A. Pettersen Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scott A. Pettersen, our son, a Cascade High School and Sno-Isle Class of 2008 alumni, tragically took his own life on January 18, 2021. We have established an educational scholarship in his memory, to be awarded each year to a Sno Isle graduating senior who is following a career path in firefighting/EMT, Scotty's dream job.
Scotty was known for his physical strength, being strong-willed and always helping those around him, as he proved on October 1, 2017, at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, where he utilized his EMT skills while saving countless lives. While Scotty was always the life of the party, the one with the biggest smile and an infectious laugh, it was only after his death that we learned of the mental health challenges he was facing. Always one to help others, we will forever be saddened that he did not seek help for himself. From here forward, we have committed to raise money and awareness for suicide and mental health related causes and to also support those who are focused on a career path of firefighting/EMT.
While we plan to personally fund this annual scholarship, it was suggested that we established a Go Fund Me account to allow others to participate if they wish, which will allow for further growth of the scholarship fund as a whole. This account will remain open indefinitely. We will forever be grateful for the outpouring of support from our family and friends during the most difficult time of our lives and as we continue to honor and remember our son.
