Scott Albright Cancer Fundraiser

Our dear friend Scott Albright’s life changed on May 23rd when he was diagnosed with a high-grade carcinoma cancer in his parotid salivary gland. Scott underwent a significant operation at The University of Utah hospital just weeks after feeling the initial discomfort on the tendons in his neck. Through a neck dissection, they removed the gland and several lymph nodes, but in order to avoid irreversible damage to his optical nerves, some cancer was potentially left behind. Scott can be considered Stage 3 at this point and is currently on the back half of a six-week chemotherapy and targeted radiation treatment at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. As many of you know, this treatment is not an easy one to manage, but it is critical to knocking out any remaining cancer and preventing it from a reoccurrence in other areas of his body.

Scott has good insurance coverage, but he’s still burdened with substantial out-of-pocket costs for travel logistics in Houston, surgery, chemo, and radiation treatments, so this fundraiser is intended to alleviate a bit of financial stress. As you would expect from Scott, he remains delightfully positive through an incredibly challenging time, and his mental fortitude continues to impress. Once Scott finishes the treatment in September, he’ll return to his home in Salt Lake City and plans to make a full recovery with clean scans for years to come!

Before Scott left for Houston, he struck a deep chord when he reminded us of the all-too-common truth that “We’re all just one doctor visit away from our life completely changing.”, with a smile on his face and a contagious message of gratitude on the importance of a life well-lived!
