Scott has been a good friend and always gives back to others !!!! I have grown very fond of Scott and his brother Jim these past few years and they have shown me how good brothers have each other’s backs !!! This is my/our chance to give back to him and his wife Kimm as they go through this tough time in their life .... a speed bump in time I call it !!!! Please keep them in your prayers and if you can please support them in this time of need !!!
This is a update from Scott’s wife Kimm on his current status !!!
So...it’s been a long week with tons of test, biopsy, and a nerve test that tested Scott’s pain threshold like I’ve never seen. Let’s just say I was in tears having to see him go through it. But, we finally have a diagnosis. Diabetic Amyotrophy. It’s very rare and less than 1% of those with type 2 diabetes get it and those that are type 1 (which Scott Is) only .03% will get it. Scott’s new nickname is Mr. 1%er. There is a new experimental treatment but it hasn’t been proven to work and it isn’t without risk. So his medical team here at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital are not willing, quite yet to implement it. Scott will have a long road ahead but with tight regulations of his blood sugar and physical therapy. He can fight it. He will be doing Acute Physical Therapy (in-house) after being discharged and we’re not sure how long he’ll have to stay there. We’re ready to fight this and Scott said he’s going to beat the odds and recover 100%...you see, they don’t even have the data to tell him what percentage of recovery he’ll be able to get.
There you have it, please continue to pray for us as we take on this challenge of beating Diabetic Amyotrophy.
