Scott and Robin

We are asking for help for Scott and Robin. In May Robin had her first surgery for a brain tumor on her brain stem. The day before Robin’s scheduled surgery, her husband Scott, found out he had cancer in his jaw.

After the May surgery, Robin recovered well and Scott’s surgery was scheduled. Scott had complication with an infection and had to return to the hospital to get that taken care of. After his surgery, Scott started radiation to make sure the cancer was gone.

In September, Robin’s surgery was scheduled to remove more brain tumors from around her optic nerves. Robin lost eyesight in her right eye years ago from the tumor, which was unknown until May when these tumors were discovered. The surgery scheduled in September was to help save the eyesight in her left eye. This surgery was supposed to be the easier of the two. The surgery was supposed to be 4 hours and ended up taking almost 9 hours because once in there, the doctors realized it was more extensive than originally thought. The tumors were not able to be fully removed and Robin woke up from surgery completely blind. She was immediately taken back into surgery that night to find out why she was blind. Over the next couple days, she was able to regain limited sight in her left eye.

Robin was released from Pittsburgh and went home to recover. A few days later she was acting funny and was transported to Hamot due to low potassium levels. She was later transported back to Pittsburgh due to the graph in her head leaking. That was repaired and she was sent back home to recover.

A few days after being home, Robin developed an infection and again was taken to Hamot and transported back to Pittsburgh. She had an additional 3 surgeries in the matter of 24 hours to remove the infection and patch the graph again. She also woke up blind again. She has now had a total of 6 surgeries since September 19th.

Both Scott and Robin have been on short term disability for months that will soon run out. They have both made multiple trips to Pittsburgh for surgeries and doctor appointments. They have both had to pay for hotel and food costs while the other was having surgery or during hospital stays.

What they have each had to go through is a lot to handle, let alone this all hitting them both at once. Let’s help take some stress off them so they can both focus on healing.
