Scott Cahill battling stage IV Colon Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Amanda Cahill
I am raising money to help with my husband’s medical bills. As far as insurance goes he has great Union benefits but, the whole system is broken.
We have co-pays, deductibles to meet, no out-of-network coverage, co-insurance and genetic testing of the cancer to provide the correct treatment along with the pathology are not covered. The medical bills are much higher than we anticipated.
He had been having some belly issues over the summer and saw the primary care. They said he had a bleeding ulcer (he has no family history of colon cancer so that was screened out) and were treating him with Prilosec while we waited on an ultrasound.
We were in Lake Placid for a long weekend celebrating our anniversary and had prime rib for dinner. Afterwards, he was suffering from extreme pains on the right side and we laid low the rest of the trip. On September 20th he went back to work but came home early and asked if I could bring him to the ER (if he’s asking it must be bad), get in the car! After an ultrasound and CT he was being admitted. They put him in a room so I could go back and speak with the doctor. They were 90% sure he had colon cancer but needed to do a biopsy of the mass and liver to be sure.
On September 22, 2022 it was confirmed to be stage 4 colon cancer with metastasis to the liver. The pain he was experiencing on the right side was from the 25+ spots on the liver. He was admitted for 5 days while they did biopsies, placed a stent in the colon to prevent obstruction from the mass and placed the port.
On December 2, 2022 he was admitted for another 5 days because the stent had migrated.
So far, he has completed 5 of 12 rounds of chemo for wild-type RAS metastatic colorectal cancer.
Scott wants to beat cancer, prove doctors wrong and live another 50 years. There is so much to live for and is staying positive.
We will be traveling to Dana Farber to speak with Colon Cancer specialists to make sure he receives the best possible care to meet his goal of living to 105!
Money raised will be used for medical expenses and travel to Boston.
Donations can be made via GoFundMe, Zelle (through your financial institution) or by mail. Please reach out if you prefer an alternative method for additional information.
