Hello, my name is Justine DeBoyace and I am the wife of Scott DeBoyace. We have been married for 15 years and have two wonderful daughters, Brooklyn and Mackenzie. We reside in Mooresville, NC and have become a part of the community here. The girls attend MGSD and I work at a local preschool so have come to know a lot of the families around us.
Unfortunately, Scott was diagnosed with colon/rectal cancer last summer. He went through radiation and chemotherapy to try and control it and finally a surgery in January to hopefully remove any cancer left. He has had a temporary colostomy bag since surgery and then went through 12 treatments of chemotherapy to try to prevent it from spreading. Again unfortunately, this came with side effects of mouth sores , sensitivity to cold and most of all neuropothy in both his feet and hands. Since then we were hopeful that the cancer was gone and he could have a reversal surgery for his colostomy bag and somewhat return to normal. This was not the case!
After several attempts, due to his now chemotherapy induced diabetes he was unable to have the surgery. Amongst us trying to address his blood sugar levels he had a follow up scan to see how all the treatments and surgery went. Well not good ! The colon cancer has spread to his lungs and chest cavity. Because of the location in his center chest cavity there is no possibility of removing It and the cancer is not curable. With the cancer being in his chest cavity it is pressing up against his trachea so he has been coughing like crazy and has shortness of breath even with the littlest of tasks. He started his third round of chemotherapy with hopefully an added agent that can target this specific cancer to keep it contained for as long as his body can handle the treatments. His oncologist has recommended he no longer work so he can stay healthy and focus on the rigorous treatment program and all the potential side effects that will happen throughout the continued treatments. Since he is no longer working we are still trying to get him on disability but that is easier said than done

Thank you in advance for all of your love, support and prayers! ❤️
