Scott Hylands Immunotherapy Fundraiser

Dear Friends, Family and Fans of Scott Hylands (Douglas),

 

On Oct.1st of this year, Scott was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). It is devasting news to him and his family.

 

Six weeks prior he was performing his self written one man Shakespeare play "Lend Me Your Ears", on Salt Spring Island, BC

 

Three weeks later, in early September, he was dancing and celebrating at his daughter's wedding.

 

Scott has started intensive chemo therapy. What he needs now is another drug called Venclexta. It has been approved in Canada to work in conjunction with his chemotherapy and this particular cancer as of Aug., 2021. What is not approved (anywhere in Canada) is the cost of Venclexta, which will be anywhere from 60,000-$80,000 for treatment. Studies from the USA show very good results for remission, when used with his present chemotherapy regime. Venclexta is especially targeted for Scott's age group. 

 

We are appealing to the Salt Spring community, where he raised his family from 1990-2015, with his wife, Veronica. During that period, Scott gave of his time and talents to present numerous plays for both adults and children. It gave him great joy and immense happiness.

 

Scott's long career as an actor has spread far and wide, from NYC, to San Franciso, Los Angeles, Stratford, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and of course, Victoria. We are appealing to all those that know and love Scott's talent and friendship.

 

His wife has taken a leave of absence from her nursing career to support and care for Scott. His children are lovingly supportive also.

 

Scott and his family are very private people, and live a quiet and joyful life in Victoria. They give generously to numerous charities throughout the year.

 

They have never asked for financial assistance of any kind, until now.

 

As word of Scott's illness spreads, people have asked how they help. Raising this money will help tremendously, and can double Scott's remission chances. Please give what you can. Thank you in advance, for your kindness and generosity.

 

One final request is that you please share this appeal with your contact list. There are so many fans and friends who know and love Scott, we cannot possibly reach them all in a short time frame.
