Remembering Scott Shay
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rio and I am hoping to fundraise money to help fund a funeral and burial for my Dad, who unexpectedly passed away on 9th October, at the age of 50.
Dad was from Port Isaac in Cornwall and got into fishing when he was a young teenager. He was a trawlerman until he had a life changing accident on the boat at sea in 2018. After this accident, and a long hospital stay in coma, he stayed in Brixham with his beautiful husky Winston.
Dad had a lot of ties to Cornwall and Brixham, in and out of the fishing community. He has worked from many ports including Exmouth, Wales, New Haven, Padstow and Brixham.
Scott was a grandad to my 3 year old son Reggie. This year has been particularly difficult for us, as Reggie unexpectedly lost his father in April, which is making this situation harder to deal with.
I really hate to ask for help but realistically I have to. I have been quoted £2,800 for the care of Dad, being able to use the chapel of rest to see Dad for the last time, transportation, service, a simple coffin with rope handles, a scatter urn and crematorium fees. This funeral director was recommended by Fisherman’s Mission - kindly Helen has offered to take Dad’s service free of charge as she had a working relationship with Dad.
I am hoping to hold a small gathering in a venue, close to Brixham port. This will be open invitation.
I understand times are difficult, but any donation would be greatly appreciated.
If there are any leftover funds, they would be donated to Fishermen’s Mission, which is a charity that provides emergency support to fishermen and their families.
Thank you.
