On January 31st, Scott was in a horrible life changing snowmobile accident.
Over the course of the past two weeks, he endured 6 surgeries:
3 for his broken legs, 1 for his broken vertebrae & sheath surrounding his damaged spinal cord, 1 for a stent placed in his torn muscle surrounding his aorta
and 1 emergency surgery to put him on a life-saving artificial lung machine.
Miraculously, he has prevailed through each of these surgeries with bull like strength. He has been released from the ICU, much to the surprise of the hospital. (strong like a bull I tell ya!)
Once he is cleared from his surgeries, not related to his spinal injury, he will be transferred to the neuro unit of Froederdt Hospital for 8-12 weeks.
Here he will undergo extensive therapy to relearn all basic skills while confined to a wheelchair.
And that's not all folks, after overcoming that hurdle, (oof, no pun intended) he will then go into outpatient therapy to help stimulate his muscles and nerves
in hopes of regaining feeling and mobility in his legs. As most of you know, Skeet is an avid snowmobiler, ATVer, and loves riding his motorcycle. He has two beautiful girls that are the love of his life. He loves coaching their softball, basketball,and soccer teams, along with being the big fun dad that he is. He's the friend that you can call on to help with anything you need. He's the first one to show up and the last one to leave.
This is a devastating blow to his active life, But! Against all odds, he is determined to overcome the obstacles and walk again.
None of this would be possible without the love, support, and prayers each of you have continued to give.
So, what are we asking?
The cost of these surgeries and therapies are astronomical, even after insurance. His disability benefits are a fraction of his normal paycheck, and we need your help to get him the best care he deserves. The road won't stop there, as his whole house will need to be retrofitted to be wheelchair accessible.
Every little bit helps, it truly takes a village. We truly appreciate your support, more than we can ever put into words.
