Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Lighthouse Medical Centre, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me. I personally traveled to Aweil, South Sudan, in June 2019 and experienced first-hand the overwhelming need in this community. This hospital will truly be a Lighthouse in this city saving many lives that are now lost every year from treatable diseases.
The hospital recently opened to address needs on an outpatient basis and is currently seeing over 250 patients daily. Since the facilities are not yet equipped we are jumping in to provide what is needed for services to the people in the Aweil area to continue -which includes over 2,400 children at five schools that we are connected with. South Sudan's health infrastructure has been decimated by years of war. Providing medical care, funding clinics, and training health workers will save lives. This facility will aid surrounding communities to rebuild and restore hope.
Despite many advances in healthcare in South Sudan, women and children in low-income communities continue to die in high number during childbirth, and children from preventable diseases like respiratory infections, malaria, and diarrhea.
Lighthouse Medical Centre's public health focus therefore continues to be on the reduction of maternal and child mortality in these vulnerable communities through innovative health, water, santitaion, and hygiene (WASH) and nutrition programs -which Global Orphan Relief is heavily involved. What is need for the hospital is as follows:
