Scottie, Svet and little Bub

Hi, my name is Kristen, and I am fundraising to support Scottie, Svetlana and little Bub on their rehabilitation journey.

Two weeks ago, their lives were turned upside down in the very best and very worst possible way. Svetlana and Scottie were expecting a little baby boy on Sunday, 11 December. But Bub had different ideas and decided to arrive a little earlier than planned on 23 November 22. Their healthy little boy arrived safely, but sadly, Svetlana suffered a major stroke 11 hours into her labour and was rushed to have surgery to remove a blood clot from her brain.

What was supposed to be the best day of their lives quickly turned into the most traumatic event, with their baby boy being delivered while clinicians worked to save Svetlana’s life.

Svetlana spent six nights in Intensive Care and has since been moved to the Stroke Unit at Royal Darwin Hospital, where she is being cared for. She has made steady progress in the short time since her life-saving surgery. However, several issues still need to be managed before she can be relocated to Palmerston Regional Hospital, where her rehabilitation will be coordinated.

It will be a long journey ahead for their little family. There will be medical costs, equipment costs and support for Svetlana and Bub when Scottie returns to work. Scottie is doing a fantastic job of caring for Bub and the beautiful Svetlana, but he will need to return to work soon, and support will be needed.

I have wanted to help them but felt helpless to know how, and I am guessing many others are feeling the same. So if you are in a position to contribute and support Scottie, Svet and Bub on their journey to recovery, then it would be very much appreciated.
