Scott Johnson Cancer Treatment Fund
Donation protected
Scott is a wonderful husband, father of four daughters and grandad to two little boys.
In late August, 2014, Scott was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer. He has Stage 4 Medullary Thyroid Cancer, which was discovered when he went to the doctor for persistent pain in his back and they found a tumor in his spine. Since that time, the cancer has spread to his lungs, liver, lymph nodes and brain – and it continues to spread, so time is of the essence and this has become a very urgent matter.
Up to this point Scott, has received excellent treatment here at KU. However, because this type of cancer is so rare, only a very small number of patients have been treated in the Kansas City area. After much research, they have determined that Scott’s best option is to travel for a consultation/treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Unfortunately, while Scott’s insurance has served him well in Kansas City, at this point it will not cover his trip to MD Anderson. In order for Scott to be evaluated at MD Anderson, the family will need to raise the funds. We will not simply sit back without doing everything in our power to give Scott the best shot at the best medical treatment available – but it will take more than simply what his immediate family and friends can come up with.
This is where we need your help. If your New Year’s resolution is to pay it forward and make a difference, we would appreciate any donation you can make to help us get Scott to Texas, because this guy is one of the best people you could ever meet. Every single donation will be greatly appreciated. Together we can do this.
