Scott's USC Team-Site Start Up

Donation protected

I've been covering USC football and recruiting for 15 years with time spent at WeAreSC.com, Scout.com, 247Sports and Rivals. I was the publisher of FightOn247.com for six years until my recovery from alcohol/drug addiction became a necessary priority.  A year ago I was three months sober and had an enormous amount of uncertainty and fear in my life. I had lost all confidence in my ability to do what I had a great passion for....covering the USC football team and recruiting. Seven months ago, a friend of mine asked if I could help out with his site, TrojanSports.com (Rivals), and I hestitantly agreed. There weren't any expectations and I even had plans to change careers and hopefully find happiness for the first time in so many years I can't recall.

The last seven months working with the guys (Chris Swanson, Adam Maya, Drew Krinsky) at TrojanSports.com was a blessing. I regained my edge, my confidence and my dsire to be the best at what I do again. It was the most enjoyable/satisfying  year I've had in a long, long time.

But now I want to continue my coverage of the USC football team and recruiting with my own independent site. I have a vision to do something no other site is even attempting to do. We'll strive to provide the best coverage of the team and recruiting available, but we'll also do that on the recruiting end by involving the students at the schools USC prospects attend. Our goal is to find students at the various schools who want to be the "beat writers" at their schools for us. I want to get the high school community involved with our site as well as the fans.

I believe by involving the kids at the schools to do interviews, shoot photos and videos, as well as myself and others, will ultimately form a community that is unique and provides an amazing experience for everyone.

Another aspect of the site that's extremely important to me is to be available to interact with our subscribers, be available to answer any questions promptly and offer opinions when  asked. Being active (each day/all day) on the  site is what separates a great site from a good one.

To pull this off, it is going to take a lot of work and some starting capital to design a website, get message boards/chat room up and running, and other expenses. I'm asking for help, because I can't do this on my own. I don't want to do this on my own. The energy from those also interested in seeing the birth of a unique and different kind of USC Team Site will be invaluable.

I really believe this can be something truly special and my longer-term plans would be to also offer an App at some point where SoCal high school football fans can go for live scores from the various games being played each week.

I appreciate your help and Fight On!!
