Scotty and Becca's motorcycle accident recovery

Thursday June 8th around 9pm Scotty and I were in a horrible motorcycle accident in Aurora. We spent the day riding with friends then it started raining, we held out the storm and decided to head home just the two of us. A few miles down the road a vehicle pulled out in front of us and we collided with the vehicle going about 50mph. EMTs rushed us to UCHealth Aurora where we were treated separately.

Scotty has a broken T6 and T7 in his spine, He also has 4 different breaks and fractures in his jaw, they did surgery to where they wired his jaw shut and will stay wired for 4 weeks to make sure it heals properly. Along with the jaw he has 6 teeth that are either broken or have been pushed in and may end up needing to be removed. Two broken ribs and both orbital bones (eye sockets) are fractured.

As for me, Becca, injuries weren’t near as severe, I have a fractured distal radius with intra-articular extension at the distal radial ulnar joint, basically A break on the outside of my left arm, also a broken wrist and the top of my hand was crushed causing many small bones to be broken/fractured which they’ve already done the first surgery on.

I also have fractured ribs and a possible hematoma in my abdomen.

With everything that’s happened we’re mostly grateful that we’re both still here, walking, talking and ready to recover together.

We’re both home but put at a 6 week recovery time where we won’t be able to work our normal jobs which will be tough financially considering living expenses like rent and food as well as physically therapy and Dr appointments out of pocket and Ubers to and from etc.

And we can’t even begin to process hospital bills and lawyer fees in the not so distant future.

Scotty’s 2020 StreetBob Harley was totaled in the accident as well, and if you know Scotty you know how much he loves that bike, and even with it totaled he will still have to continue to pay monthly payments.

This has been incredibly overwhelming and hard to process, so we’ve made the decision to reach out to our community for a little help. We love and appreciate all of the love, support and help from everyone.
