Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this and for your faith in me.
Being in the arts is a compulsion and privilege where the road is never easy - so not having to travel it alone is a Blessing - capital ‘B’!

On to the show!...

SCRBBLED CINEMA - WHAT IS IT?

SCRBBLED CINEMA is a YouTube series in which young filmmakers explore the techniques of filmmaking by crafting and shooting scenes on-the-spot, start-to-finish, with little time and no-budget.

In each episode, a filmmaker is tasked to film a scene under these circumstances:
  • It’s shot in ONE ROOM with limited props, set and time.
  • He/she must highlight the cinematic THEME or TECHNIQUE chosen for that episode (e.g. camera movement, tone, sound, etc.).
  • He/she must adhere to restrictive PROMPTS randomly selected on the day.

THE PURPOSE:

SCRBBLED CINEMA's purpose is to create an online space of PLAY and LEARNING that supports the VISION and VOICE of our audience.

We want our audience to feel EMPOWERED by exploration, to be UNAFRAID of challenge, and to work with the resources they have rather than be discouraged by what they don't.

SCRBBLED CINEMA is also a platform that supports DIVERSE voices that aren't always centered by bigger institutions (particularly when it comes to being behind-the-scenes).

THE FOUNDER:

agmMx (Shiree Adkins)

Shiree received her BFA in Acting at Howard University (2012) where she also studied screenwriting. During her junior year, Shiree was accepted into the Creative Minds in Cannes Summer Program and worked as a student-filmmaker during the Cannes Film Festival in France. There, as an actor and co-filmmaker for the short film Chien De Chapeau (2010), Shiree's team won second place at the Summerfest Film Festival.

Upon graduating Howard, Shiree produced her first commercial theatrical production of My Favorite Color is Orange at the Artisphere Theater in Arlington, Virginia.
Shiree continued her education at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (London) where she earned her Masters in 2013.

After graduating she moved to New York where she wrote and produced two short films, Clench and The Violent Eye. Shiree has worked in various positions with numerous independent films and series such as Inside/Out (2013), Complexities (2017), A New York Adventure (2017), Prospect Park (2019) and more. In 2015, she stage-managed for the now-historic Broadway play Thoughts of a Colored Man with its creator, Keenan Scott II.

Most recently, Shiree completed an intensive with Shakespeare and Company in Massachusetts and trained with the renowned Bill Irwin on the works of Samuel Beckett at the Celebration Barn theater.
