SCRT Covid Recovery Fund

After 5 years I have decided it is time to do another marathon. I swore Paris was my first and last, however there is a good cause (not just me shifting my beer belly!!!). During the pandemic Sutton Coldfield Recreational Trust have suffered huge income loss, as have members of the Trust in particular and obviously close to my heart Sutton Coldfield Rugby Football Club. The Trust a Charity ran by a group of volunteers that provide excellent facilities for sports and social clubs in Sutton Coldfield (Tennis, Bridge, Karate, Archery, Choirs, Radio Clubs, Air Cadets and many more; including, of course, Rugby for men and women of all ages and abilities). The Trust also maintain a pristine site which is well used by the general public and certainly was a refuge for many during lock down. We are working hard to keep the site in good condition but as you can imagine even though the income dried up in the Pandemic, the bills did not. Most notable include work for over £25,000 that had to be spent just to upgrade the boilers and electrics to ensure we stay compliant and safe. Any money I raise will go to the Trust and will form part of the Rugby Club annual contribution so any money you spare will help the Trust and the Rugby Club directly. I am running with my friend of 25+ years Jon Baker, ex First Team Captain and general legend. Jon has never done a marathon before but has thrown himself at the challenge. Please dig deep, I know there are many worthy causes out there but local sport is having a hard time right now and if thinking about me crawling 26 miles blowing out my "you know what" makes you smile chip us a few pounds to keep SCRT strong!
