Scrubs for Wales Hospitals
Donation protected
When Covid19 descended on us, it became clear that as a nation we were ill prepared for the pressures it would put on the NHS and Care Community. The demand for PPE including scrubs soared overnight creating an immense shortage with very little chance of any coming through the official supply chain.
Watching events unfold, like most of us bystanders, I felt helpless with a strong desire to contribute in some way. I sew professionally and knew there were many like me and not only professionals but even greater number of home sewers. I Put out a call and not surprisingly people responded.
As a group of volunteers we set ourselves the task of making 1000 sets of scrubs to help fill the gap, while the government were able to secure and deliver orders from manufacturers. This funding appeal is to buy enough fabrics and haberdashery required to produce the scrubs plus other costs such as fuel, gloves, masks, sanitiser, cutting equipment, post and packaging, and incidentals.
£10,000 would be required to hit our target of 1000 sets give or take . As soon as it reaches that amount the appeal will we turned off. All the scrubs will be made by volunteers, who while they have free time at the moment, will at some point need return to their regular lives. We don't want to receive funds we can't guarantee will be used for the purpose of the donation. If in the event there are unused funds, the remaining money will be donated to as similar NHS related fundraiser.
