Elementary BackPack Program
Donation protected
I teach at a Pre-k through 2nd grade elementary school in Troy, NY. Our school has students who are hardworking, loving, and face all kinds of adversities. Unfortunately a huge population of our students struggle with hunger on a daily basis. It is very common for students to receive breakfast and lunch at school and not eat again until returning to school the following day. It is our main focus to aid these students and find ways to provide them with the meals they need as no child should go hungry. Our school has recently become involved in the NY Regional Food Bank BackPack Program. The BackPack Program helps alleviate child hunger by discreetly providing hungry students with backpacks full of nutritious and easy-to-prepare food on Friday afternoons so the students have food to eat throughout the weekend. The program runs throughout the entire academic school year. The $7,500 raised will help us provide food backpacks for 15 students a year for the next three years. Please consider donating as these students should not be worried about where their next meal will come from. Thank you!!!
