Opera Dreams Can Come True for Mia!
Donation protected
My name is Mia Tamburrino and my dream is to become an opera singer! I have had the priveledge of being selected to participate in the University of Miami's Frost School Salzburg Program.
About Me
Music has been a part of my life since as long as i can remember. Before i learned how to speak i was singing. As a little girl i would sing at church, in school and at every family event. I have always had a love for performing. During my early teens, I attended a magnet middle school where i was in choir every day. I participated in many solo competitions and this is when my passion for classical music began. During High School, i had the oppurtunity to perform in Operettas all four years, and was blessed to be chosen as the female lead the last two years. These experiences further reinforced my obsession and passion for opera.
Currently, I am a freshman at UM and I am majoring in Classical Vocal Performance. This past year has been a year full of dedication, hard work and many successes. I have participated in numerous opera scenes, performances, and concerts. Fortunately, i was offered a small role in this year's UM opera "Suor Angelica" and this experience was not only exciting but educational. I only hope to gain more experience in what i love to do. This is why i would like for you to help me study in the birth place of Mozart: Salzburg, Austria.
About the Program
This summer program would allow me to study with world-renowned artists in one of the most exciting places in Europe. My Austrian experience will be enriched by German language classes, weekly vocal coaching that emphasize operatic repertoire, and public performance oppurtunities. I will be able to attend concerts and special events in Salzburg’s famous festival theaters, palaces, and the Mozarteum, as well as visits to historical sites in both Salzburg and Vienna.
Why I need your help
I am humbled to share that the Frost School of Music has awarded me a scholarship towards the program. My financial situation is very limited. I am able to attend University of Miami because my mother is an employee of the University and eligible for some tuition remission. Also the generosity of scholarships and some grants have enabled me to pay for my first year. My parents and family members are willing to contribute what they can for the flight, but that still leaves me with a $4,000 deficit.
It would mean so much to me if i were able to go. I ask for your help to make my dream come true and help me further develop my passion and future career.
I believe that this once in a lifetime opportunity for me speaks directly to those that have a commitment of providing opportunities for aspiring young vocalists like myself. With gratitude and humility I am asking for your support to continue to follow my heart, my dreams and my ambitions.
