Hi, my name is María Teresa Fidalgo-Azize (she/they). I am the Creative Production director for the Sea Dance Documentary. I am an aspiring poet, film critic, distributor and producer. My work centers on inward explorations of violent girlhood unafraid of venturing into bereavement’s reign. I am interested in transnational cinema, multilingual literature, and the depiction of subversive femininity within the Latin American context.
Being born and raised in Puerto Rico, I have witnessed firsthand the catastrophes of climate change and its devastating effects on the country’s population ranging from the basics of lack of access to electricity and portable water to subsequent mass migration. With this in mind, I am passionate to pursue the role of Creative Production Director for Sea Dance’s developing documentary.
Sea Dance Collective is helping me raise funds to carry out the completion of our documentary. The mission of this documentary is to build a curriculum about the community potential of a group dedicated to collaborative art-making as a means of inspiring advocacy and activism surrounding the climate crisis.
