Seabert Farm’s Storm Relief
So many farms in Western New York suffered major losses from the storm this past Tuesday, 7/20. Torrential downpours, flash flooding, and grape-sized hail decimated Seabert Farms and many others in the area within a matter of minutes. The storm completely destroyed all of their crops, and many fields along Ridge Road still remain under feet of water. Seabert Farms has been a family ran operation passed down for five generations. They sell their produce and flowers at local farmers' markets, to a few grocery stores in the area, and participate in CSA programs. Of their 100 acres, 60 acres were planted, and everything growing has been rendered useless. Their season has been cut short by 4-5 months, and it is too late to replant 90% of what they grow. Their livelihood has abruptly been demolished (literally) - right before the peak of the picking/selling season, without any hope of salvaging or replanting. We are trying to help the Seaberts on Ridge Road pick up the pieces after such a catastrophic loss. If you can help support the rest of the season, as they rebuild and try to replant what’s left of the fall crops, they would be incredibly grateful. Thank you!
