Seaburn Family

While doing something he loved, working on a car, Ron Seaburn Jr. was tragically involved in a freak accident where the front end of the vehicle fell on him. For 40 minutes, he was without a pulse while first responders and hospital staff performed CPR. Ron finally regained a heartbeat but during this time his brain was deprived of oxygen and the damage was ultimately too severe. The staff at Lima Memorial Hospital was phenomenal in their care but there would sadly be no outcome. Recently, Ron was led to register as an organ donor, much to his family’s joy and surprise. This was something he had not considered in the past. In another amazing twist, it was quickly determined that one of Ron’s organs was indeed a match for a critically ill transplant patient. On the morning of November 1st, while the sun rose on a chilly Ohio morning at Lima Memorial Hospital, Ron was given a hero’s honor walk through the hospital hallway as he was prepared to provide this life-saving gift to another human being. His legacy and hopefully his humor will live on in someone who has yet to fulfill their purpose on Earth.

This fundraiser was created as an effort to take some of the financial burden off his son, Derron. I am Derron’s mom and though Ron and I were no longer married, we shared the commitment to seeing our son succeed and be happy. Derron is training to be an expert in the same craft as his father – auto mechanics. His employer has been very understanding and allowing Derron all the time he needs off to handle arrangements and grieve. Unfortunately, most of that time off is not paid. Ron did not have life insurance and all financial and decision-making responsibility is falling to Derron. He is handling it like the strong young man he is and we are all very proud, but we know that he is stressed about missing time from work and other expenses that have arisen due to his dad’s untimely passing. Any donation will help him get through this difficult time and if you can’t donate monetarily, please consider organ donation in your own end-of-life planning. Donations are also being accepted through the funeral home (Hufford in Findlay, Ohio) and will go directly to expenses. Prayers for Derron and the rest of Ron’s family and friends are also needed and welcome.
